Project Description

Join the Sudbury Defeat Depression Walk

Join NISA on Saturday May 23rd for the Defeat Depression, move for mental heath walk!  Defeat Depression is a national mental health awareness, anti-stigma and fundraising campaign that provides hope and reduces stigma for people affected by depression and other mood disorders. Across Canada, mental health organizations, community groups, caring companies and concerned volunteers are planning walks, runs, rides and other physical or social activities encouraging people to Move for Mental Health. Sudbury will be having its walk on May 23rd at Bell Park.  Open Minds Quarterly will also be on hand at the walk to share our local mental health publication, and encourage conversations that open minds.

NISA is shaping up for the event with a weekly walking group every Wednesday at 1pm. All are welcome to get active with us at the walking group. To join NISA’s Defeat Depression team, contact Bobbi McLean at 705-222-6472 ext. 321, or bmclean@nisa.on.ca

The distances to walk at the event are 1km, 4km, and 10km. We will be deciding collectively soon on which distance to tackle.

For more information about the walk, to register yourself or a group, or to pledge a participant, visit the Sudbury Defeat Depression website.

Can’t come to the walk, but still want to support the event, or NISA members? You can donate to the local event.
