Project Description

Art Show Opening

October 4th to 10th is Mental Illness Awareness Week, an annual national public education campaign designed to help open the eyes of Canadians to the reality of mental illness. NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action will once again be marking this awareness campaign with a number of events taking place during the week and month.

One of those important events is our Fall Art Show Gala! The show this year is titled Art in Action: Position and Perception and includes art from NISA members, as well community artists who have lived experience with mental illness. The art is on display at the Sudbury Theatre Centre, 170 Shaughnessy Street from now until November 8th.

Please join us at our gala reception on October 7th, from 7-9 p.m. The show highlights many new pieces, never yet seen on the permanent gallery walls at NISA. Light refreshments will be served.

Mental Illness Awareness Week was established in 1992 by the Canadian Psychiatric Association, and is now coordinated by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) in cooperation with all its member organizations and many other supporters across Canada.
