Project Description

We’re calling on all NISA Artist’s to participate in this years Fall Art Show! The show will be on at the Sudbury Theatre during Mental Health Awareness Week, October 4th to 10th. The theme is Art in Action; we will be showcasing pieces that are socially relevant, including depictions of us resisting stigma and discrimination, fighting for social change, and inspiring fresh thinking about mental illness.

If you have a piece that fits this theme, contact Kaarina Ranta at 705-222-6472 ext. 305, or kranta@nisa.on.ca. A great opportunity to get more details on the Art Show would be at our Creative Expression meeting Friday August 14th at 1pm.

In advance of our Fall Art Show, we will also be participating in the upcoming Sudbury Art Crawl and touring the Sudbury Art Gallery.

Saturday August 15th from 12pm-8pm: Art Crawl in conjunction with Up Fest

Up Fest is a first in Sudbury. This public art festival culminates a music festival with an afternoon/evening art crawl. Check out various visual arts hotspots in the city’s downtown core, including our soon-to-be revamped galley at NISA! All of the venues are in walking distance downtown and are free to access.

Tuesday August 18th at 1pm: Touring the Sudbury Art Gallery

Also this month, we will be taking a tour of the Sudbury Art Gallery. The trip will include viewing the current exhibitions (“For Better of For Worse”, the comic art of Lynn Johnson), engaging in an interactive component, and having the chance to make your very own flip animation book. Entrance is $6 per person.
