Personal Responsibility Month

This month at NISA specific programming will offer non-judgmental conversations, education, and practical strategies around personal choice as it relates to general health promotion, as well as substance use and personally-induced harm.

Programming Includes:

Monday, July 11 from 11am-3pm: Reseau Access

You will be provided with information on HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), Hepatitis C and STI (sexually transmitted infection) awareness, as well as a free lunch, interactive games, and giveaways!

Thursday, July 14 from 1-4pm: Overdose Prevention

People who attend this workshop will leave with practical skills for preventing a personal overdose, as well as strategies for what to do in the case of supporting someone who has experienced an overdose.

Wednesday, July 20 at 1pm: Al-Anon Meeting

Are you supporting someone who struggles with alcohol consumption concerns or addiction? This meeting will give friends and family members tools and offer hope and strength to people affected indirectly by alcohol abuse.

Thursday, July 21 from 2-4pm: Self-Harm Peer Support Group

This new peer-run group will be offering support for people who have engaged in self-harm. This will be a non-judgmental, open space providing opportunities to share personal lived experiences, honestly discussing the feelings of shame that can be associated with self-injury, and offering further information and resources related to self-harm.


The topics of our weekly Recovery/Wellness Group will also reflect this theme.
