Emotional Wellness Month
This month at NISA specific programming will provide opportunities to engage in self-care, stress reduction, the development of inner strength, and the awareness and acceptance one’s thoughts and feelings as it all connects to one’s emotional wellness. Special programming will include laughter yoga, guitar therapy, rock painting in the community garden and dress-making in the sewing room.
Wednesdays at 1pm: Guitar Therapy
Lead by our member, Dave, people will learn basic cords, and skills in playing and writing songs. Folks who are not inclined to learn or lay guitars are welcome to come and sing along to music, or simply enjoy the process. People are encouraged to bring along their own acoustic guitars, if they have one, and their requests for cords and songs that they would like to learn.
Friday, August 12 at 9am: Rock Painting in the Community Garden
Lead by staff member, Audrey, you will enjoy the art of selecting and painting rocks, right within the grounds of our plot in the local community garden.
Thursday, August 18 at 2pm: Laughter Yoga
You’ll discover the therapeutic benefits of laughter yoga, in this new session facilitated by member, Céline.
Monday, August 22 at 1pm: Summer Dresses
Haja will guide people through another fun sewing project, this time, summer dresses! We’ll provide the material. Come on out on the 22nd to make your very own customized summer dress.
Wednesday, August 24 at 12pm: Expressing Vibrancy Walking Group
In a spin off our weekly walking group, this particular afternoon we’ll participate in Downtown Sudbury’s Expressing Vibrancy event, with a walk around the downtown and an eye for what we feel makes for a vibrant downtown.
The topics of our weekly Recovery/Wellness Group will also reflect this theme.
