Peer Support Training
NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action is pleased to offer a five-day training program for those wishing to develop skills and gain knowledge in the fundamentals of peer support. The training will run from February 12-16, 2018, 9:00am-4:30pm at NISA.
This training is in line with the Guidelines for the Practice and Training of Peer Support set by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and is offered to those with lived experience of mental illness.
The training will cover a broad range of topics including:
- Peer Support Skills & Competencies
- Effective Communication
- Sharing Your Recovery Story
- Managing Conflict
- Hope and Recovery
The training fee is $500 per person. Participants must attend all five days. Some subsidies are available. Daily healthy snacks provided & lunch on the last day.
